In this project, my task was to design a personal finance analytics feature for a mobile banking app that helps users quickly understand their financial standing without needing to manually analyze transactions or use third-party services.

I started with user research to understand how they track their income and expenses and what challenges they face when using banking apps. I conducted a series of interviews and analyzed existing solutions from leading banks. The research revealed that users lack a simple and clear summary of income and expenses: financial data is often scattered across different sections, analytics are overloaded with charts, there is no option to select a custom analysis period, and pending transactions are not taken into account, which prevents users from getting a complete picture of their financial situation.

Based on the insights gathered, I formulated key UX hypotheses and developed a user flow that makes financial analysis faster and more intuitive. I designed a single Money Flow screen where users can immediately see their total income, expenses, and net cash flow for a selected period. I added flexible date range selection with preset usage scenarios, developed automatic transaction categorization, a subscription monitoring screen, and the concept of AI Insights, which explains changes in financial metrics in plain language. I also included the display of pending transactions so that users can see the most accurate picture of their finances.

After defining the user scenarios, I created wireframes, an interactive prototype, and developed my own design system using design tokens and a library of reusable components, which ensured interface consistency and accelerated further work on the product.

Project outcome: I successfully designed a user journey that reduces the number of actions required for personal financial analysis, lowers cognitive load, and helps users make financial decisions faster. The solution consolidated key financial metrics on a single screen, made analytics more understandable and transparent, and thanks to AI insights and flexible analysis tools, users can not only track their finances but also gain a deeper understanding of their own financial habits.
